Yiannis Melas was born in Athens on November 2, 1985. He pursued his undergraduate education at the Athens University of Applied Sciences, majoring in Electronic Engineering. Additionally, he earned a Master's degree in Advanced Information Systems from the University of Piraeus.Yiannis Melas has a background in politics, having served as a Member of Parliament in the Hellenic Parliament. His political journey began in November 2010 when he was elected as a member of the Municipal Council of Piraeus. Subsequently, from August 2012 to February 2014, he held the position of Deputy Mayor for the New Technologies sector. He was reelected as a Municipal Council member in the 2014 elections and further assumed the role of Deputy Mayor of Piraeus, responsible for the Commerce and Revenues sector, from September 2014 to July 2019.In the corporate sphere, Yiannis is an entrepreneur and a co-founder of ReGreenIT, a company committed to advancing the principles of the circular economy, green economy, and technology sectors. Prior to this entrepreneurial endeavor, he served as an Executive Sales Representative for a British company, specializing in the development of software and hardware for asset tracking, with a particular focus on tracking fishing vessels. As an electronic engineer, he specializes in fiber optic network infrastructures and as a consultant on IT projects.
