As a dedicated Research Assistant at York University, I have been actively engaged in groundbreaking research focused on aging in place and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with dementia. Collaborating closely with esteemed researcher Dr. Matthias Hobben, I have contributed to projects aimed at advancing our understanding of the aging process and implementing strategies to improve the well-being of those affected by dementia.Key Accomplishments:Conducted in-depth studies on aging in place, emphasizing sustainable and supportive environments for seniors.Investigated the correlation between aging and the quality of life for individuals with dementia, contributing valuable insights to ongoing research initiatives.Worked closely with Dr. Matthias Hobben to design and execute research protocols, ensuring the scientific rigor and integrity of our studies.Established effective communication channels and collaboration with Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in retirement and nursing homes, fostering a holistic approach to the research process.Collaboration with PSWs:One of the highlights of my role has been the close collaboration with PSWs in retirement and nursing homes. This hands-on experience allowed me to integrate practical perspectives into our research, creating a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world caregiving scenarios. By actively engaging with PSWs, I gained a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities in providing care for the elderly, enriching the depth and applicability of our research outcomes.My time as a Research Assistant has not only strengthened my research and analytical skills but has also provided me with a nuanced understanding of the intricacies involved in addressing the needs of aging populations, particularly those living with dementia.
