Managing Editor, 'America'S 1St Freedom' Magazine
Current-Manage daily operation and editorial production of AMERICA’S 1st FREEDOM magazine at NRA Headquarters, and coordinate with editorial and art staff.-Assist in editorial production of the official journal (OJ) NRA pages in multiple magazines. Act as direct point of contact for other NRA divisions submitting items to be published in the NRA OJ. Coordinate with Publications Executive Director and Editorial Director in selecting/approving appropriate editorial content. Edit and proofread all AMERICA’S 1st FREEDOM and NRA OJ pages appearing in other OJ magazines throughout various stages of production. Participate in OJ committee process and workflow. -Manage preparation and production of editorial content, including reviewing manuscripts, copy-editing, assembling photo packages, and proofreading. Ensures quality-control of site content. Responsible for content generation, including assignments to freelance writers, working with Photo Dept. and obtaining stock photo assets.-Research/fact-check submitted material.-Correspond by mail and telephone with NRA members, writers, photographers, advertising representatives, and shooting sports companies. Act as liaison with other NRA divisions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, agencies and groups, firearms industry representatives and advertising representatives.-Prepare and produce content, including interviewing, researching, testing products, writing, reviewing, copy-editing, captioning, obtaining images, headlining, and proofreading in AP style.-Proof and circulate text and layouts for review; review proof book and weblink enhancements.-Write and edit articles for the website associated with the magazine, including posting via CMS and social media.
