About Melia Matthews

I am a fourth-year PhD candidate in Biomedical Science at Cornell University. I am developing a new imaging tool for studying subcellular osteocyte biology and function in the Lewis Lab. I served as the President of the Cornell Graduate and Professional Student Assembly 2023-2024. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Whitman College in 2020, competing on the varsity swim team for four years and performing research in plant genetics, marine biology, and mitochondrial physiology. I plan to pursue a career in biotech, government research, or science research communication.
