I am currently a student at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX where I am working on a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies with a focus in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. I am Pre-Med and am hoping to explore the medical field throughout my education.I am an Emerald Eagle Scholar at UNT. The Emerald Eagle Scholars Program is a competitive program that pays for four years of undergraduate studies alongside the Pell grant and is awarded to students who excelled in ACT/SAT scores in high school. This program has been incredibly helpful to me and I am thankful to be in this program. I have worked for the City of Grapevine for the last three summers as a lifeguard, cashier, and swim lesson instructor and was a swim lesson instructor for one full year. I thoroughly have enjoyed this opportunity and have loved learning lifesaving techniques that will help in my future and teaching techniques that have helped me to learn how to be patient and learn how to help all kinds of people learn the same material.At Colleyville Heritage High School, I was in the Grapevine-Colleyville Health Science Program where I shadowed at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, TX and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Bedford, TX. This experience has encouraged my exploration in the Medical Field and further excited me to pursue a career in the medical field. In the Baylor rotations I shadowed in many departments, including Cardiology and the Cath Lab, ICU, and the Emergency Room. At HealthSouth I shadowed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and their respective nurses. All of these opportunities were incredible and I will never forget the things I learned including what happens behind the scenes and direct patient care. Through each of these experiences I have learned so much and I will continue to be dedicated to learning more about medicine and its advances and the importance of patient care for an overall smooth recovery.
