When local schools opened back up after COVID shutdown, I was hired by specific schools to be the substitute teacher only for their school. With this in place, I’m in the same building every day, all day. If teachers need to leave or have COVID, I am already there to sub.The 2020-2021 school year, I worked at a K-12 magnet school.Currently, I am working at a 2nd-4th grade elementary school.The 2020-2021 school year, if no staff were absent, I helped in the office or library. I organized the book collection. I made sure the uniform exchange was up-to-date and organized. I filed paperwork. I spent a lot of time in kindergarten helping. This year, if no staff are absent, I am teaching or helping with reading, writing and math in two special education rooms. The students stay in their main classroom and based on their IEPs, go to the SpEd rooms.

Read and comprehend the curriculum and lesson plans for the day.Get students excited about the lesson!Ensure stated and unstated classroom rules are being followed.Manage student behavior and classroom order.Make sure that students are being responsible, fair, respectful and safe.Use projector, white board, Chromebooks, textbooks.Keep eye on bullying behavior and handle it immediately.Make sure students are on time for specials (art, music, gym, health) and exhibit safe and quiet hallway behavior.Follow procedures in place for fire drills, tornado drills, intruder inside drills and intruder outside drills.Check all materials and ensure that each child knows where they need to go at end of day so they get home safely.Make sure classroom is tidy.Leave note for teacher about the day.
