Silver Grove wants documentation created for all of the internal and external process of the business - a business format franchise, if you will. There are several levels of value with following this course: Of more immediate interest is the standardization of day to day activities. By writing down what needs to be done, how to do it and when to do it, the business does not fall victim to the vagaries of memories or preferences. This is also valuable when on boarding new employees. Of more long-term interest is the resale value it gives to the business. If, and when, the time comes to sell a financial advisor business, being able to provide the book of business (which means the list of your clients and their assets) is valuable. Being able to provide detailed instructions of exactly how you serviced your clients is even more valuable.My job is to learn a new industry (the financial industry) by performing the day to day administrative activities, building tools and developing and streamlining the processes as I go, and then document what I've developed.
