For the X anniversary of the book "Poor Mr X" by mexican poet Ricardo Castillo, cultural magazine Tierra Adentro invited me and other artists to create an homage on its issue 217, in which we celebrated Ricardo's work with poems, essays and visual art. I chose to illustrate "Reflections from the inordinate length of feet", a poem so intriguing, deep and absurd at the same time it inevitably brings all kind of fascinating mental imagery when I read it. It gives us a brief insight into a family of very tall people (kilometers tall) with extremely long feet who "take everything calmly", including things like "my sock is torn", "I swallowed a fly" and "we're all going to die". After a long and fun process of conceptualization, character design, and thumbnailing where I explored diverse options to illustrate this unique family, I chose to portray them as trees, their roots being the long feet the title refers to, and their calmness towards their surroundings, own existence and mortality represented by one healthy tree with a swing (a symbol of childhood, life and future) on one of its branches, surrounded by a burning tree and a tree that's already dead. I used a neutral background to make the family of trees the focus of the picture and to show both their loneliness and their togetherness as a family.Later in 2016 this piece was chosen to illustrate the cover of the book "O reguero de hormigas" by mexican writer, professor and activist Yolanda Segura, which was distributed by publishing fund Tierra Adentro.

Visual identity design

As part of the social service I did as a design student, I assisted on the arts&culture difussion department of my university.I redacted and designed calendars, programs and playbills for theatre plays, dance numbers, film screenings and art festivals, as well as visual material to advertise and promote these events, like posters, flyers, brochures. I also had the chance to illustrate some of these designs.
