About Melissa B

I am very passionate about my work and love being able to work with people. When working with communities, there are some very challenging days, which can be tough, but knowing you are making a difference in someone's life is so important. I might not be able to change the world, but sometimes you can change someone’s world. I have been assessed by Ofsted on my teaching a number of times and graded outstanding.I have also been able to attend courses on different aspects within the EYFS, such as phonics, mathematics, safeguarding, restorative practice and more. Also, I have a current CRB/DBS and a current first aid certificate. My pedagogy:‘There can be no effective and satisfactory work without play; there can be no sounds wholesome thought without play’. (Dickens, 1960, p. 272).Through early years and sociology, I understand how important early years learning is in the development of a child. This is something I am very passionate about because I believe it plays a very important role in shaping children lives in the future. As every child is unique and I believe the best strategies for teaching children, is to really know the children’s abilities and interests and to scaffold learning from there. My personal pedagogy is focused on play-based learning. I am an advocate for teaching anyone be that children or adults, both theory and practice by giving them first-hand experiences and then applying theory, their learning will be more grounded and they will not only meet goals but exceed them.
