I currently work with GI medical oncology patients helping to oversee their treatment and management. Population includes a wide range of diagnoses, age, sex, and socioeconomic status. I help serve patients undergoing active cancer treatment as well as surveillance. I often collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide the most comprehensive cancer care, including supportive resources to treat patients with a holistic point of view.

Determine appropriateness of visit and assist with establishing new patients with GI medical oncology office. Work to expedite retrieval of outside imaging, pathology, and oncology history in preparation for new patient visit. Work with multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive cancer care. Screen patients for clinical trial eligibility and necessity for referrals to other disciplines, radiation oncology, surgery, etc. Ensure scheduling of chemo treatment, procedures, and follow up visits after new patient visits. Help facilitate weekly tumor board meetings. Act as a support, advocate, and educator for the patient throughout their cancer journey

Practice in an acute care setting at an academic hospital with 3 - 5 patients per shift on the hematology and oncology services. Duties include administration of chemotherapies, quick and efficient communication with interdisciplinary team members, frequent assessment of patients and critical thinking of exam findings as this patient population can quickly decompensate, participate in Rapid Response events and frequently functioning in the charge nurse position.I have had experience precepting numerous students and new graduate nurses.
