During my time at Ebsworth & Ebsworth, I was a Senior Associate in the Commercial Litigation / Trade Practices section, and also assisted the Insurance section with its involvement in the HIH Royal Commission.The areas of law I focused on were trade practices (anti-competitive conduct, consumer protection, Part X shipping), and Supreme Court/Federal Court commercial litigation.Specifically, I was involved in drafting trade practices compliance manuals, presenting trade practices compliance workshops for national corporations, and drafting submissions to ACCC.

Starting as a Solicitor in the Commercial Litigation section, I was subsequently promoted to Senior Associate, and given the opportunity to travel to Chicago to attend Manager School at the Arthur Andersen international training facility in Chicago.I was involved in all stages of the commercial litigation process in the areas of trade practices (anti-competitive conduct, consumer protection, access to essential facilities), corporations law, intellectual property (trademarks), franchising, commercial leasing, contractual disputes, debt recovery, insolvency, and corporate fraud.In addition to litigation, I also advised clients in trade practices law (anti-competition and consumer protection), and prepared and conducted trade practices compliance workshops.

Upon admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, I joined Warren McKeon Dickson as a Solicitor, initially in the area of Commercial Litigation (Local, District, Supreme, Consumer Claims Tribunal), and subsequently branching out into various other areas, including trade practices, partnerships, corporations law, insolvency, commercial leasing, unfair dismissal (Industrial Relations Tribunal), property and tenancy law, conveyancing, workers compensation, personal injury, wills and estates.My work involved providing written and oral advice to clients, briefing Counsel, drafting court documents (Notice of Motion, Affidavit, Statement of Claim, Defence, Third Party Notice, Cross-Claim, request for further & better particulars, interrogatories), and court appearances (returns of subpoena, callovers, motions, mediations in all jurisdictions, Local Court hearings).

Canberra And Sydney

I joined the then Trade Practices Commission as a Graduate, and was fortunate enough to be placed in the Head Office in Canberra. The graduate program involved periodical rotations through various departments within the Commission - being Mergers, Legal Unit and Utilities & Deregulating Industries (working on the gas industry).My work as a graduate included assessing and analysing submissions made to the ACCC by various external parties, legal research, conducting market enquiries, drafting and presenting staff papers before the Commission, writing papers on legal issues for publication in the staff newsletter, liaising with various Government and private agencies.At conclusion of the Graduate program, I joined the then ACCC's Sydney office as an Investigator. My role involved enforcing the Trade Practices Act, conducting complex investigations into alleged breaches, answering client enquiries regarding the operation of the TPA, conducting interviews of corporations and consumers, drafting Court documents, preparing affidavits, and managing Federal Court group proceedings matter.I was subsequently admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, at which point I decided to move into private practice.

For the duration of my university studies, I worked at Autore & Associates as a paralegal, assisting the sole practitioner with the general management of cases, attending callovers, briefing Counsel in Chambers and in Court, drafting and filing court documents, case research, client meetings.I worked in the areas of conveyancing, debt recovery, personal injury, and criminal law.
