As the benefits communications specialist, I worked with the assistant vice president of HR-Benefits to strategize and implement communications strategies for the office of HR-Benefits at theUniversity of Miami. My responsibilities included creating and executing print, email and online marketing campaigns, communicating with our employee population regarding their current benefits and any changes to the organization’s benefits programs. In this role, I spear-headed some large-scale projects including the communications campaign for the annual benefits open enrollment program, marketing for the 2013 inaugural workplace wellness week, the redesign of the HR-Benefits website, and a retirement savings program strategy to increase awareness and enrollment in the University-sponsored voluntary retirement plan.

Prepared meeting agendas and packets for monthly Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, which included financial statements and new updates as warranted. Responsible for researching and gathering demographic information for the County to distribute in our Community Profile. Managed day to day office functions, including mail distribution, incoming phone calls, billing, marketing, events and website content management.

As the South Florida real estate market started to stabilize, our agency found a niche and wasgaining momentum. I was responsible for servicing the division’s largest grossing client, who was in the midst of developing seven different projects throughout South Florida and the Florida Keys. In this role, I facilitated the creation and final delivery of stationery packages, rack and master brochures, direct mail, print and radio advertising campaigns. I also worked closely with local media representatives to reserve space and place client advertisements.

I was selected as the agency’s account executive and the main point of contact for its largest grossing account. While at Sherman, I also worked as the office’s bookkeeper, responsible for creating an organization and filing system for the agency’s billing and file-keeping, thereby ensuring efficient operational capabilities within the agency.

During my tenure, I organized the events with the largest employee volunteer turn out and the most funds raised thus far ($63,000 gross; 750 guests; 20 employee volunteers). Additionally, I helped introduce the national walk-a-thon to the Miami region, which grossed $15,000 its first year.
