About Melissa Estelle
I serve as the Director of Facilities at University Health Lakewood Medical Center. In this role I direct, plan and help with managing the day to day operations of the hospital's infrastructure. My department is responsible for critical utilities such as electricity, gas, steam and medical gases. I plan our budget and participate in strategic and lifecycle planning for buildings and equipment. I ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and CMS. Some of the most exciting days in our department are ones when we finish a project that improves efficiencies, and start to see the energy efficiencies or cost savings for the hospital. I'm fortunate to work with a team that takes pride in delivering reliable efficient services to the organization. Before working in my current role, I was the Assistant Director of facilities at University Health Truman Medical Center. There I directed and managed daily operations as well as several projects involving critical infrastructure such as medical gas and medical vacuum system replacements. Prior to that, I served as UH's building engineer, managing the MEP trades. I was promoted as a part of a team who achieved 10 year lows in utility costs, through repairs and maintenance activities. My first role at UH as a power plant operator, maintaining chillers, boilers and generators for the hospital. My career and personal growth at UH is something I never would have imagined. I learn new things every day and feel fortunate to work and interact with so many skilled and talented individuals who are passionate about what they do. The best part is being able to support an organization that provides quality healthcare to all people. I'm interested in hearing former colleagues, others in similar roles, or anyone who loves what they do.
