I am developing in vivo rodent disease models which enable drug mechanistic studies. I work with both internal teams and external CROs to advance our programs.

For my postdoctoral work I characterized a rodent model of a rare, metabolic disease. I used this model to establish the rationale for using small-molecule drugs to treat this disease. Further, I identified a misregulated metabolic pathway that translated into a real-world comorbidity risk for this disease.

My lab studied the role of stress proteins in inflammation in alcoholic liver disease. For my thesis project I characterized alcohol-induced adipose tissue inflammation in order to uncover mechanisms driving inflammation.

I learned basic laboratory techniques in the laboratory of Dr. Alice Cheug using the model system Arabidopsis thaliana. I constructed a reporter strain of Nicotiana tabacum plants in order to study actin dynamics in pollen tube growth.
