I have worked as a community Midwife for most of my midwifery career so am skilled in all aspects of Antenatal care and Postnatal care. I have worked as an autonomous practitioner running my own clinic and caseload and managing my own workload. As part of my role I have also carried out home births and worked within a midwifery run birthing unit. I have also worked as a screening counsellor so have a good understanding of antenatal screening and the importance of providing accurate information to enable women to make informed choices about options in their pregnancy. I have also worked for a short time as a Fetal Medicine Midwife so have a good understanding of this role and the complex issues that occur in some pregnancies and how these are managed under a multidisciplinary team. Although I am an autonomous practitioner I am a team player who recognises the importance of sharing a workload and responsibilities within a team.
