I am currently a first year student at Wake Forest University. Throughout my early years in high school, I have taken many different classes which helped me to realize I have an interest in science courses. I began taking AP science classes and Advanced Science Research. Soon I found success in my science classes and became a member of the Science Honor Society. In Advanced Science Research, I created an independent study that tested the factors that influence adolescents' nutrition choices and compared those factors in high school and college students. I decided to focus on this topic because I enjoy staying healthy by cooking new recipes as well as playing volleyball and badminton. I have also always been interested in working with children. I love spending time with younger family members being a mentor for them and helping them. During the summer of 2021, I worked as a counselor-in-training at my local camp. I assisted the head counselor with a group of first-grade boys. I had a great time working and spending time with them, which confirmed my interest in working with children.These experiences helped shape my potential career path. In the future, I hope to go into the medical field and specialize in pediatrics. When I was given the opportunity to join the Senior Experience program at my school, I was immediately interested. Through the program, I could participate in an internship of my choice, two days a week. On top of what I learn in school about science, I am able to have real world experience working in the medical field. I decided to intern at my local EMS where I became a junior member and can go on calls and have hands-on experience in health care. During the summer, I have worked as a program assistant at the Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center to gain more experience in healthcare.Currently, I am in my first year at Wake Forest University where I intent to major in Biology on the Pre PA track.
