My dream was to become a Graphic Designer or an Illustrator with Disney or Pixar and I began taking steps towards my degree in high school. Three months into college, I was in a serious car accident that caused me to drop out. Shortly thereafter, I became a single mother and was forced to keep my job in retail to care for my little one and myself. I wasn’t aware at the time that my position in retail would be the first stepping stone towards my new career. Over the past 20 years I’ve spent in various customer service roles, I’ve learned that I really enjoy problem solving and helping people.I’ve worn many hats since moving on from big-box retail and took any opportunity I could to grow my skill set. I was a service advisor at a car dealership, worked as a tattoo artist, I was a receiving manager and quality control specialist, and eventually landed an Account Manager position at a fulfillment company. Even though each job was vastly different, they all gave me skills that I could apply to the next venture along my journey to becoming what I am today, a Client Services Manager.Overall, the ability to merge my creativity, out-of-the box thinking and problem-solving skills to help others gives me the greatest sense of accomplishment. This was not the career path I intended to be on but without these experiences, I would not have discovered who I am as a person and what I am capable of.
