About Melissa Lindsey

After a surprising dna discovery, I was forced to reexamine my definitions of identity, family, ancestry, and connection. I also discovered a serious void in resources, research, or information for people created with donor sperm, eggs or embryos. No one knows how many donor conceived people (DCP) there are in the US, but estimates range between 1 to 6 million. Due to consumer DNA testing, surprise discoveries happen every day, but there aren't resources to support the people navigating them.In 2020, I established Donor Conceived Community to support people impacted by donor conception. We started with "New Discovery" peer support groups for donor conceived people (DCP). We've become a 501c3, and with the help of a team of volunteers, added resources for parents, donors, and the professionals who support them.I'm grateful for the opportunity to build this community and promote the well-being of donor-conceived people.
