About Melissa Middleton

I have worked the mental health community developing my skills in Grief & Bereavement, Trauma, Family disfunction, and countless therapy. These areas are my passion and validating and building humans in a time of their feeling of brokenness is my absolute heart space. I have facilitated corporate training programs, addressing the need for mindfulness and EQ in all work places. I have used elements of many therapies to address complex systemic issues including, but not limited to, Adventure Therapy, CBT, Diversional therapy, Art & Drama therapy, Person centred & Strength based therapies. My tool box is ever expanding & I am excited using techniques that work for my clients where sustainable changes can be made & a mindful space has been created for long term growth. My journey in therapy started almost 20 years ago when I travelled & worked globally, for The Paul Newman Foundation, in Hole in the Wall Camps & Camp Trillium. These programs focused on sick children & their family's finding a space for normality and resilience. On my return to Australia I Co-founded & Co-Directed a successful Australian Adventure Therapy company in Melbourne. At this time I embraced my abilities & started to use these skills in the Corporate Training field. My passion of working in grief, loss, trauma, cumulative harm, relationship dysfunction and adjustment to life change, no matter how big or small, was realised at this time. Welcome to my new enterprise, Rising Strong Counselling and Training Services. I opened this organisation after a pure vision of gold star mental health care appeared to be getting lost in what is already available in corporate and community organisations. This is the first cutting edge program for people that need more active and purposeful therapy and incorporates adventure therapy, experiential learning, art therapy, and all other traditional types of therapies into session work. Putting therapy into the hands of the client, I work on the premise the client is whole and complete when they come to me, and they able find their solution with support. For more information you can contact me as stated in my profile.

    Corporate Outdoor Training 2005 - 2010
Trained corporates, business, not for profits and other groups using experiential learning to highlight strengths, weaknesses and areas of improvement. Addressed communication and team issues as needed. Every program that I worked on had the base of fun with the idea that "a mind once stretched will never go back to its original size".
