Melissa Milligan (she/her), a psychotherapist (qualifying), has a desire to assist others, which stems from a passion for understanding the human condition. I understand how challenging it can be to feel stuck and that things won't improve unless your surroundings or circumstances shift. I am also aware of how difficult it may be to ask for assistance, particularly when you are responsible for helping others. My practice is based on the belief that, with the appropriate therapeutic approach, anyone can feel comfortable, in control of their body, and heal from prior traumas. Based on thisidea, I provide a comprehensive strategy that combines somatic work and trauma-informed techniques like somatic psychotherapy to assist my clients in realizing their inherent capacity for healing. In addition, I have a strong desire to support individuals in navigating transpersonal and spiritual experiences while they pursue treatment using a variety of methods. While somatic psychotherapy serves as my "home base" therapy, I draw on my broad experience in a variety of modalities to create a personalized treatment strategy for each individual. To best assist my clients, I use CognitiveBehavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Internal FamilySystems (parts work).
