I have been working in the hospitality industry for 15 years during that time I have completed a degree from the University of Auckland, Bachelor of Property, I have worked for a boutique Property Management and Property Development company in Auckland managing commercial and residential body corporates, worked on plans for the development of new residential subdivisons and the redevelopment of luxury property to create an income stream by way of luxury rental. Most recently (the past 3 years) I've worked for Air New Zealand on the development of their new-look lounges across the National and International network. This work involved working with a large number of stakeholders, developing concepts and seeing them through to build completion. The responsibility was to create and maintain a design that was consistent and true to brand.Throughout all of this I have maintained a position in HOSPITALITY, 5 years working for a Leading Hotel of the World, a luxury property where service and standards were never compromised. The past 7 years have been as a business owner, first of a pub, The Quadrant in Hamilton Central and second, a bar and restaurant, The Eatery & The Keg Room in the northern suburbs of Hamilton. Business ownership is tough, the skills that are needed are varied and many. The driving force through all of my positions however has been the ongoing success of my people. I am driven by seeing the people around me succeed and I love to be able to offer guidance and direction to those that need it. The hospitality industry is seen as a 'stop-gap' job by many and not taken seriously as a career option. The reality is that it is the most wonderful, challenging industry, it has so many aspects to it and it is truly rewarding. My future will be helping people discover the industry and changing the perceptions of our country around what this industry can do for our young people and just how much of an opportunity it presents.
