Program CoordinatorFestivals Kelowna Dec 2015 - PresentThe Festivals and Special Events Development Society of Kelowna (Festivals Kelowna) is a non-profit society that produces community-focused, festivals and programs. As an independent organization, we work on behalf of the City of Kelowna to produce and present these core events:1) Parks Alive! - a free concert and entertainment series that features live shows in over 20 of Kelowna’s parks and public spaces 5-6 days a week, all summer long in July and August. 2) Celebrate Canada Day- Kelowna - a one day free festival held in Prospera Place, Waterfront Park, Jim Stuart Park, and Kerry Park for residents and visitors to celebrate our nation’s birthday with lots of music, games, and food! 3) Kelowna Buskers Program - a year-round program that welcomes and encourages local and touring professional and amateur buskers to perform their unique art form. 4) Arts Alive! - a visual arts festival that showcases local and regional artisans. This one day festival also features live musical, spoken word, and interactive art displays. 5) Pianos in Parks - this fun program features decorated pianos placed in downtown locations from mid-June to late September. Free to play, and beautiful to look at, our public pianos help animate public spaces through the joy of music6) Buskers on Bernard - BoB is a 3 hour showcase of local Buskers held along 3 blocks of Bernard Avenue in downtown Kelowna. Our version of a mini Buskers Festival, Buskers on Bernard is a fun way for unique performers to showcase their performance skills, and the public to come together in common enjoyment of street style culture.7) New York New Years - NYNYE is our family friendly First Night celebration. Held from 6-9 pm, the name comes from ringing in an early New Years Eve. Free to attend, the event is centred around our outdoor skating rink and features live musical entertainment, games, giveaways, light shows, and fireworks at 9 pm -
