• Performed a cost-benefit analysis to identify most appropriate water filter model for use in rural Nicaraguan communities, produced with locally sourced materials
• Developed an original curriculum designed to promote safe sanitation and hygiene practices in low-literacy settings; trained community health workers in rural villages on the implementation of the curriculum to promote.

• Deborah's House is a service program for victims of domestic abuse, housing women and children in northern Baja MexicoResponsibilities:
• Lead several volunteer groups to complete a variety of ecological projects that aim to reduce the carbon foot print as well as the overall costs needed to maintain a shelter of 30+ people
• Designed and installed a solar water heater
• Installed solar panels on the roof of the shelter
• Designed and installed a three-compartment septic tank.
• Currently working on reclaiming the wastewater produced for plant irrigation.

• Cultivated a fruit and vegetable garden, and created a composting system for the shelter to make organic fertilizer
• Tutored children and adults on a variety of subjects, such as Math, Sciences, English and Spanish.
• Coordinated and translated for volunteer teams from the U.S.
