I am responsible for providing actuarial analysis for Business Insurance Loss Analytics - Auto which includes reserving, planning support, and closely working with business partners to analyze trends impacting their business

Perform quarterly loss reserve review for National Program (NP) Workers Comp (WC) using Travelers developed reserving system presenting results to senior management. Monitor large loss activity taking into account the impact such losses will have on reserves. Completed and presented quarterly Unallocated Loss Adjustment Expense (ULAE) reserve review.On an annual basis complete capped analysis, payout pattern and tail study for NP WC. Also, conduct a study tracking the severity of motor vehicle accidents for Middle and Small markets.

•Prepared annual operating plan and monthly outlook using enterprise wide planning tool for Retail, 529, Investment Only and Proprietary Mutual Funds products. •Calculated economic and embedded value for Retail Mutual Funds and 529 products to determine if Goodwill needed to be written down.•Calculated monthly benchmark surplus for Mutual funds according to Corporate Actuarial guidelines and standards. •Provided actuarial support in the selling of the Offshore line of business. Assisted with calculating the selling price. Also, worked closely with the acquiring company’s actuary to transition the calculation the Guaranteed Minimum Death Benefit (GMDB) and Guaranteed Minimum Withdrawal Benefit (GMWB) reserves.

•Managed the monthly renewal process by communicating rating changes to Aetna IT to be used in QRS rating system. Completed rate report review in DEV, QA and Production environments. Worked closely with Aetna IT to troubleshoot and resolve rating issues before final rates went into production. Provided final sign-off of all rate reports to Aetna IT.•Supervised staff in their checking of rate and medical rate-up calculations of the QRS application for new business and renewal quotes in assigned states within deadlines established by regions. Provided support and training to staff for them to understand QRS rate and medical rate-up algorithms for their assigned states. Directed staff in maintaining and updating rate checking models. •Created plan factor to be used by QRS rating system as a component of the rating algorithm. Used a combination of Access and Excel to develop factor. •Held regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide and receive feedback about current responsibilities. Conducted monthly staff meetings to discuss upcoming events surrounding the renewal process. Prepared scorecards in accordance with Aetna’s policies and procedures and conducted formal reviews two times a year.
