About Melissa Turowski
I am currently a secondary mathematics teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. It is important to me that I always hold high academic and behavioral expectations for all of my students. I collaborate often with my colleagues to analyze data, strategically plan lessons and curriculum, and share best practices.I began teaching as a corps member with Teach for America in Hartford, CT. I taught secondary mathematics in Hartford for three years and also involved myself in many other extracurriculars at the community high school. This included coaching soccer and track and field and advising the student council and dance group. Additionally, I was the athletics faculty manager for one year and managed all athletics operations for the winter and spring sports seasons. I am an alumna of Elon University from which I graduated summa cum laude with a major in mathematics and minors in both business administration and Spanish. I am a former team captain and member of the Elon University Varsity Women's Track and Field team and was a four year letter winner.
