Computing Sciences Division•Managed $29M budget for the Energy Sciences Network Department (ESnet), a world-class network utilized by scientists and researchers to collaborate on a wide array of scientific challenges and endeavors.•Created a sophisticated multi-year financial forecasting model for the ESnet Department Head that allowed for more effective control of total project costs. The tool applied the appropriate burdens by cost type, automatically accounted for any recurring costs and fiscal year inflation, and summarized total costs by type, project, and fiscal year.•Developed a financial reporting tool that re-mapped FY04 and FY05 ESnet operating costs into a work breakdown structure that allowed for earned value management principles to be applied to the San Francisco Bay Area Metropolitan Area Network project.•Oversaw entire fiscal year end close process; successfully planned programmatic resources to ensure adequate funding carried over during federal continuing resolution process.•Managed $53M budget for the Information Technology Division (IT), provider of laboratory-wide computing support services.•Produced monthly PowerPoint financial presentations for the IT Division Director and Department Heads in order to review each department’s financial status and to facilitate budgetary decision-making.•Designed planning tool for annual recharge budget submission that streamlined the development of recharge rates and budget requirements.•Enabled IT management to allocate an additional $132K to special projects through skillful management of organizational burden and project budgets.•Taught “Project Setup” class for the Laboratory’s Core Financial Training Program.
