For the longest time, I told myself that I could never be a stay-at-home parent. I was too dedicated to the work I poured into at my office job each day with my team. I prided myself in the millions I was able to save our company and Health Plans, and I was thrilled to challenge myself on how to make a process faster and more efficient. After I had my first daughter in June 2020, I leaned into my new role as "Mom." My maternity leave came and went in a blink, and I was eager to get back to the daily grind again. I poured into the work that I loved each day, but I soon started to realize I wasn't pouring into my daughter. With Covid running rampant still and unreliable daycare, I decided it was best for me and my daughter to focus my time and attention on her. In April 2021, I said goodbye to the best team and company to pursue being a Mom full-time. It was a dream to be able to teach and mold my daughter during that 2 year period in our lives. When it became time for her to enter preschool, I was energized to re-enter the workforce and hopefully find a place back at Centene. I am now on an amazing team at Centene working as a Business Analyst III in the Business Technology Solutions department. I am working in an IT world I never thought I would dip my toes into, however, it has given me so much new experience into all things Agile and Scrum.I have learned a lot throughout my professional career, but there are two things that really stand out:1. Negotiating with a three-year-old is much more difficult than with a group of Executive leaders.2. Never say never.
