A departure from working as an IT Manager/Administrator for over 18 years, in the last decade I've shifted focus and began to use my Master's Degree core curriculum, learning and technology. This has included new-hire onboarding, training development, and work within the LMS environment to create engaging and meaningful content. This content is designed for delivery to users via virtual/online learning. Now armed with a Doctor of Education degree with a focus in eLearning, I am hoping to catapult workplace online learning into an experience that is not "just being completed because it needs to be" but is engaging, meaningful, and immediately relevant to those who are participating.In a previous "life", my IT experience was in areas ranging from Windows desktop repair, training design and delivery, deployment of new technologies, project management and costing, and implementation of infrastructure enhancements to information systems company-wide. I also was responsible for user education and training on company systems. This function, in particular, uncovered my passion for learning and led me to my new home at Marcum LLP, which now involves elevated instructional design skills and technology integration into training via audio/video editing using Camtasia, striking PowerPoint presentations, eLearning creation using Articulate Storyline and other software tools. In the past, I've also been involved in software projects from the initial vetting processes through implementation and go-live, which includes creation of user-friendly tutorials and guides.My philosophy has always aligned with seeking out and implementing efficient solutions that increase productivity and lead to long-term benefit; my experience has been that temporary fixes are necessary sometimes to bridge gaps on a short-term basis, but are a waste of company funds in the long run and prohibit growth and movement of an organization. Flexible, portable training solutions, and engaging content fall into my areas of expertise.
