CurrentEvaluates the effectiveness of the Navy safety and occupational health program and policy at the strategic level, recommending changes in operating procedures and regulations as needed. Develops necessary policy, implementation guidance, and assessment of programs and requirements to ensure adequate inspection, identification and abatement of occupational hazards. Coordinates, directs, evaluates policy, establishes objectives, provides procedural guidance, and guidance for adequate inspection and identification of hazards and timely corrective action. Establishes measures of performance for program elements and coordinate performance metrics. Coordinates and conducts safety surveys, assist visits, command presentations, on-site visits at Navy and Marine Corps activities to assess various aspects of safety and occupational health programs. Conducts analysis of safety data including mishaps, hazards/near misses, investigations, inspection results, workers compensation data, training, and other sources of information from various sources internal and external. Uses various software packages, i.e., Microsoft Office (Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel), etc. to originate correspondence, messages, point papers, reports, and presentations of high quality.Provides command training on Industrial Hygiene and inspections in support of the command Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
