Secured funds and managed multi-stakeholder projects to improve various healthcare systems locally and across Canada. Conducted an exploratory study investigating patient and staff safety as related to oral chemotherapy in Nova Scotia. Co-authored a Human Factors handbook to teach health technology professionals how to use a variety of human factors methods to support the technology procurement process, and risk/incident analysis. Developed and delivered teaching/learning materials about human factors and patient safety to staff at CancerCare Manitoba to help them build in-house capacity and expertise.

Executed project planning, data collection and data analysis, and provided recommendations to improve various health technology designs, processes and environments. Applied human factors methods such as heuristics and usability testing to improve patient and staff safety, with a focus on oncology and home care. Undertook prospective risk analyses (FMEA) to identify potential safety risks. Led the development of a human factors training course for front line health care professionals and taught regular introductory human factors courses for a variety of organizations.

Researched, designed and implemented a method to extract an analogue voltage signal from a rehabilitation device for dysphagia. Created a biofeedback user interface to view and capture real-time pressure wave data from patient rehabilitation sessions.

Planned and conducted a software update of physiological monitors in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) and recommended organizational improvements to the committee responsible for risk analysis of incoming medical devices.

Quoted new business and engineering changes for two Toyota accounts. Served as the primary contact for Toyota Purchasing and Toyota Design and conducted market research to determine existing demand for new decorative technologies (e.g., hydrographics versus in-mold film)

Ran engineering trials to prove out changes made to pre-production injection molding tools, materials and processes.
