I am currently working at Sylvia Park School where I have been teaching Year 7 and 8 students (age 11 and 12), which I have absolutely loved. I plan and teach across the New Zealand curriculum, while creating a positive and collaborative classroom environment and building strong relationships with all my students. Last year I received my full practising certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa, after completing 2 years of full time teaching in a mentoring program. Before this, I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) where I experienced teaching at two different schools and age levels, new entrant/year 1 and year 4. I also hold a conjoint degree in Commerce and Science, majoring in Management, Marketing and Psychology from the University of Auckland. Since graduating and before pursuing a career as a teacher, I worked in various recruitment positions and sales support/bid management. While I enjoyed these roles and workplaces greatly, I needed to find a career that gave me more fulfilment and the opportunity to contribute more to society which I have found in teaching.
