About Melissa Hillman

I'm a nonprofit leader with over 25 years of experience in executive leadership and arts administration. I'm driven by increasing access and removing roadblocks to participation in the arts, especially for people who have been economically and/or culturally marginalized. In addition to arts leadership and nonprofit administration, I have deep experience in narrative, dramaturgy, and developing new works in theatre, television, and film. I've been published by TCG, Methuen, HuffPo, and many others on theatre and EDI. My latest passion is arts grantmaking and philanthropy, the center of my work at TBA, where I have increased access for BIPOC and for disabled grantseekers by revamping our applications and creating new systems for panelist training and for transparency in our grantseeker vs. grantee metrics. As a women with a mobility disability, I love helping arts nonprofits achieve their goals in disability outreach, bringing authenticity to the process. While I'm full time and then some at TBA, I am still taking consulting clients. Please reach out to me!
