“The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.” – Albert EinsteinA paradox that I have found true throughout my life. Learning is a lifelong pursuit and the more knowledge I have obtained, the more exposure to the immense unknown out there. And as someone with a variety of interests and hobbies, I have gone out of my way to increase that exposure as evident with my career choices. I went from researching tax laws as a sales and use tax auditor to researching tax law for clients on the other side on the SALT team. Then I went from auditing corporations’ financial statements in public accounting to preparing those same statements. I have covered the entire spectrum from government to public to private and have gained invaluable experience through it all. Additionally, I expanded my network and increased my soft skills through my time moderating Subtle Asian Dating (a Facebook group with over 600k members) and Subtle Korean Traits. I collaborated and led events with upcoming artists and social media influencers for both groups and have developed unique conflict resolution skills and got to experience different cultural viewpoints from around the world. When I am not looking at numbers at work, I am taking Mandarin lessons biweekly (currently have taken 65+ lessons on Italki, a language learning platform with tutors from around the world). The pursuit of knowledge is an ongoing journey, and I aspire to perpetually foster curiosity and drive, continuously exploring new realms of understanding.
