During my time at Netball Tasmania, I took on a myriad of roles. Originally employed as the Umpiring Coordinator on a part-time basic (three days a week), I expanded my experience by incorporating general administration, secretariat support to the Aurora League Commission and website maintenance into a full time position within 2 months of commencing with Netball Tasmania.In my 18 months with the company, I successfully built on the knowledge of the sport I had acquired in voluntary positions at my local netball association. I had been affiliated with the sport as a player, coach, umpire and administrator at local and state level and I believe this provided me with a solid background, allowing me to be able to guide the three General Managers I had in the time I was there.Whilst such a high turn over management was unsettling at times, I believe it gave me opportunities I would otherwise have not had. I have a sound base in the sporting industry now to work from, and look forward to path my career will take.

This was a volunteer position, but one which provided me with invaluable experience.As a community based sporting organisation, Kingborough Netball Association provided me with the opportunity to experience the high and lows that a volunteer workforce faces. During my Presidency, the association successfully obtained local government grants, hosted a whole of state two day netball carnival, provided a sporting outlet to the local schools and established their first affiliation with a local club. The association, had many external relationships with important stakeholders, including: - Local and state government - State netball body (Netball Tasmania) - Local facilities run both by the local council and privatelyInternal relationships were the heartbeat of the association and they included: - Players - Coaches - Officials - Parents of junior players (who formed the backbone of the association) *All of the above were involved voluntary with the Association.Specifically, in the position of President, I was granted an experience many others my age at the time (22) would not have had. I understand the demands of holding a voluntary, executive position, managing other volunteer committee members and the responsibility that comes with upholding the financial holdings of an incorporated body. My tenure in this position was cut short by my employment with Netball Tasmania commencing in January 2010. As Kingborough Netball is an affiliated association, I resigned my position in recognition of a conflict of interest.
