I'm a researcher and educator with a PhD in Organizational Science, MA in Industrial-Organizational Science, and BA in Organizational Communication Studies.I'm a researcher at heart but also enjoy educating and mentoring future business leaders in my classes. I teach a variety of management courses, including strategic management, entrepreneurship, and strategic HRM for entrepreneurial firms. I design team- and project-based courses grounded in active learning pedagogy and use many experiential learning tools.My research generally focuses on the microfoundations of entrepreneurship strategy, particularly the social processes and psychological factors that influence entrepreneurial outcomes. My interdisciplinary roots guide my work, which often involves approaching phenomena from a meso-orientation; drawing on literature beyond mainstream entrepreneurship and strategy domains; and employing both quantitative and qualitative methods. Example research areas include:- Founder succession in innovation-driven firms- VC-founder and founding team relationships- Leadership in founding teams and startups- Resource exchange in entrepreneurial networks- Passion and psychological capital in entrepreneurship- Research methods, including multilevel, longitudinal, and person-centered methodsI embrace collaboration with academics across disciplines and business partners who value fresh approaches to understanding and positively affecting entrepreneurial firms. I especially enjoy working with highly motivated research enthusiasts and meeting entrepreneurs, investors, and many others who contribute to a robust ecosystem for new venture development.
