Part of the Opportunity Fellows Program, I was on loan to the US Dept of ED as a Fellow at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) focused on increasing equitable opportunities in summer, afterschool and expanded learning.

Provided assistance in investigating the use of tenth human-fibronectin protein as an antibody-mimic to bind various targets. Used sequencing techniques to characterize randomized yeast libraries and specifically worked with flow cytometry to investigate protein expression of selected clones. Work published in peer-reviewed journal.

Characterized kinetic properties of Cathepsin B and L, two enzymes involved in the formation of ab plaques in Alzheimer's Disease in order to explore alternative drug options for Alzheimer's Disease. Used microplate fluorescent assays to determine effectiveness of commercially available inhibitors of Cathepsin B and L

Provided academic support to high school students in specific school subjects, study skills, and SAT preparation. Served as a mentor through the college admissions process.

Worked on the MIT twin study to help determine whether language is inherited or learned. Assisted with data analysis by compiling journals submitted by study participants in addition to heading videotaping study for verification of data.
