Program officer for the program Eems-Dollard 2050. The main objective of the program is to tackle the turbidity problem and improve the ecological quality of the Eems-Dollard estuary. We approach this within three tracks: hydro-morphological improvements, beneficial use of fine sediment and vital coast (nature development). ED2050 is the result of the joint efforts of national and regional parties. This program builds on the unique dialogue between local, regional and national governments, businesses, nature and environmental organizations.

Interdisciplinary research about the possibilities for the local community to start the concept 'Dugong Watching' (DW). In the ecological part of my report I analyzed the boundaries and the carrying capacity of the ecosystem (and for dugong). Secondly, the business feasibility of the concept DW was researched. Afterwards, other types of eco-tourism were explored to provide the community with other alternative livelihoods.
