I represented the School of East Asian Studies as a Student Associate in Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield. I worked in a team with representatives from the other Social Sciences departments in order to produce a resource designed to help university students to become independent learners.My responsibilities included:- Creating an academic resource to help new university students to become independent learners. - Conducting individual interviews, making notes and transcribing interviewee responses.- Submitting ethics requests and data collection forms for project research.- Proofreading and editing consent forms and questionnaires.- Conducting research, including the use of focus groups and online research.

I was elected as President of the East Asian Studies Society (EASSoc) which is the official departmental society for the School of East Asian Studies at the University of Sheffield for the academic year 2016-17.My responsibilities included:- Managing committee members and taking responsibility for the actions of the society.- Delegating and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines. - Setting agendas, calling and chairing committee meetings.- Motivating the committee members to complete tasks on time and to the required standard.- Communicating with other societies, new members, students, external companies and academic staff.- Supervising the allocation of society finances.- Giving presentations to prospective university students at university open days.

I was selected to be a Policy Analyst at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou by the GLOSS initiative within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield. I worked at the official G20 media centre with a team of colleagues to produce blogs and policy briefs. My chosen topic was China as a G20 host nation.My responsibilities included:- Researching, writing and publishing academic essays and blog posts analysing an aspect of the G20 summit- Editing and proofreading colleagues' essays and blog posts- Maintaining my personal account and official GLOSS social media accounts during the summit, using Twitter to publish updates from the media centre- Talking and giving interviews in English and Chinese to local and international press about research topics and opinions about the summit- Attending and making notes during press conferences given by international politicians including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

I was responsible for designing, manufacturing and selling jewellery for the student company Kawaii, as part of the Young Enterprise business programme. The jewellery products were sold at various craft fairs and on our website. This department of the company was the most successful, greatly contributing to each of our student investors receiving over a 200% return on their investment.
