Family and friends have dubbed me Melapedia (a play on my name and Wikipedia)- although an inside joke based on the random facts and knowledge I hold, this is probably an accurate name for the intellectual curiosity that drives me. I enjoy problem solving and am constantly exploring and seeking to understand the unfolding world around me. Together with a strong analytical skillset this has served me well in my career spanning business and operations improvement, performance analytics and process engineering.I began my career as a Process and Improvement engineer in an Operations environment where I have proven value addition in process optimisation and business improvement. In 2016, after 6 years of technical support across various operational units, I pursued a Masters Degree in Business Management in order to expand my knowledge base and complement my technical skillset with appropriate business understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed this learning experience and had the opportunity of visiting Krakow, Poland as the top academic performer in my year.In 2017 I took up the opportunity of Senior Business Performance Analyst in the Group Operations Support function. This role integrated across many operational entities and across the organisational leadership hierarchy with a focus on Operations performance visibility, continuous improvement , KPI standard development as well as assurance and governance to ensure consistent reporting and aligned performance management. As at December 2020 I have taken up the role of Snr Business analyst in the Operations Transformation office which is responsible for driving the business transformation of Energy Operations to enable Sasol's future strategy.I do not believe in one-size-fits-all leadership approach and always endeavor to be adaptive and flexible in leading. I strongly believe that every individual in a team has a unique contribution, or to quote from Multipliers by Liz Wiseman – “ a native genius”. My leadership style is thus centered on empowering the people in my team and is highly collaborative and inclusive.I have developed excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills through years of working with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams. This has further added to my strength of being adaptable, especially in my current role which interfaces and interacts with various stakeholders.
