Melissa Romeo currently works as the Communications Manager at Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS). Melissa manages the communication center and staff that provides advice, assistance, ordering, and problem resolution to over 1,000 alcohol beverage licensed customers, suppliers and community members. Melissa also is the lead in departmental communications to ensure adequate and effective communication is maintained using a variety of methods such as monthly newsletters, the department website, annual reports, and social media.Previously, Melissa was the Outreach Marketing Program Manager at the Office of Procurement. Melissa developed the annual outreach plan aimed at assisting businesses to obtain contracting opportunities with the County and ensured that the public and vendor communities are aware of Montgomery County's procurement opportunities and contract compliance requirements. Melissa also managed and coordinated the divisions social media, outreach events, and marketing materials. Prior to Office of Procurement, Melissa worked at the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) as the Community Outreach Program Specialist. Melissa produced all marketing materials, managed LRE website and social media, managed division projects, assisted with the coordination of grant funded educational projects, spoke locally and nationally on alcohol policy & practices.Melissa began her professional career at the Conference and Visitors Bureau of Montgomery County, MD as a Communications Specialist where she was awarded the Maryland Tourism Council's New Professional of the Year. Melissa graduated from Towson University in 2004 with a major in Communication Studies and minor in Mass Communications/Public Relations Concentration. At Towson University, she held numerous internships in the public relations, marketing and event planning industry and served as the Vice President of Towson University's Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
