As Assistant Professor of Digital Media in the UA Department of Art and Art History, I work as research faculty on the tenure track and teach two courses per semester while serving as the head of the Digital Media area.I am guiding the newly independent Digital Media area after its departure from Graphic Design as a formerly combined concentration. Half the time, I want to believe what I see.My work is a practice of mis/believing. I make images and experiences that retell American narratives from TV, film, literature, art, and music. These media can be great fun, but they are also powerful mythmakers and agents of bias. Repeating and remixing these stories helps reveal their patterns and dis/harmonies. Not everything ages well. Let’s talk about it.There is an art to good conversation, after all. Alongside my media remixes, my art socializes through interactive projects that center personal and community storytelling amidst the noise of popular media. The truth is out there on our front porches, practice fields, and hiking trails. I want to see what I believe.
