Science and the environment have always intrigued me. I have been drawn to it for as long as I can remember. There is always some more to learn and discover, and problems to solve that highlight new and unthought-of issues. A world of wonder with many different environments that require care specifically designed for them. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marine and Antarctic Science from the University of Tasmania and went on to do my Masters in Marine Biology at James Cook University. I worked and am still working to obtain stills in a wide range of fields and environments, allowing me to have a multidisciplinary approach. I am looking for a role in the enviromental science sector. My experience includes:-Taxonomy of aquatic invertebrates and Tripos (Dinoflagellate).- Ecotoxicology, growth and reproduction experiments on cultured organisms.- Working with Industry stakeholders to develop best management practices. - Tutoring and assisting with training in an environmental monitoring course and an introduction to R statistics unit. - Field technician work with TropWATER and CSIRO to collect water samples, install sensors and conduct habitat assessments. -Created and maintained healthy cultures and developed experimental procedures to assess the growth of invertebrates in the laboratory while using ImageJ to automate results from photos taken through a stereomicroscope (Intern at TropWATER)-Running a team to maintain turtle health and husbandry practices, develop enrichment devices, and work with other scientists to efficiently run their research projects (Intern at Turtle Health Research Centre).-Phylogenetic and morphological identification of dinoflagellates to apply amplicon data through bioinformatics and statistical analysis to determine if they are suitable environmental markers (Volunteer at CSIRO Algal Lab). From determining turtle behavioural patterns from tracking data through GIS to completing environmental assessments for ecotourism development, I have plenty of on-water experience, working as a deckhand, whale observer and collecting phytoplankton samples. I have also worked in some interesting and remote locations, such as Maria Island and Authur river, Tasmania and Andenes, Norway. I have been building my skills, and I am currently working on my phyton language, R, ecotoxicology and experimental design skills. With my skills, I will be a valuable asset to any team.
