I am responsible for Preparedness program oversight and development for our region, which encompasses the state of Oregon and six counties in Southwest Washington. During my time in this position I have helped standardize programs, developed training classes and instruction manuals, managed a team of approximately 75 volunteers, and directly supervised three AmeriCorps members. I have led the team to exceed goals for reaching youth with The Pillowcase Project, bringing the program to more than 8,500 students across all of Oregon and SW Washington. I also support our adult-focused programs, teaching volunteers how to share preparedness messages with the community, giving presentations on community resiliency and preparedness to a wide variety of audiences, and facilitating efforts that allow our team to reach approximately 30,000 individuals each year with educational classes, and another 80,000 individuals via preparedness-focused community outreach. During disaster response activities I have led preparedness initiatives aimed at sharing educational material with communities directly impacted by wildfires and helped to coordinate communications and in-kind donations with partner organizations.

As an AmeriCorps member serving as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, I led community disaster education and outreach, while also managing a volunteer corps of approximately 100 Portland area community presenters. In this position I was also responsible for scheduling and staffing preparedness events, training volunteers to share preparedness messages in the community, and responding as a Disaster Action Team member. I also served as an Emergency Warming Center Supervisor throughout the 2013-2014 winter, with the opportunity to fill the Emergency Warming Center Coordinator position, serving as a liaison with the City of Portland during the "Snowpocalypse" in February 2014.
