  • Khmarochos Devops Club
    Lecturer
Khmarochos Devops Club Jul 2022 - Present
Khmarochos is a non-commercial organisation indented to raise funds for Armed Forces of Ukraine by teaching and training DevOps engineers. The students don't pay anything to us, but they are obliged to make weekly donations to the Demokratychna Sokyra foundation. I started this initiative to raise some funds for purchasing a SUV for one of our assault units, and then I just forgot to stop. :-)More details are available here: https://khmarochos.academy/
  • Tucha
    Orchestrator
    Tucha 2012 - Present
    Ukraine
We decided to launch this project at the end of 2011 when we had realized that cloud computing services are becoming more and more popular amongst corporate customers in Ukraine. As a result, we were one of the first companies that offered cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and we've got first orders at the beginning of 2012'th.Now I'm maintaining and developing our infrastructure that hosts hundreds of virtual servers running Linux, FreeBSD and Microsoft Windows Server systems hired by various customers - from small commercial organizations to big trading companies and well-known banks. Our technical sites are located in Germany, Ukraine and other countries. We use Apache CloudStack and Kubernetes as the orchestration systems, we also develop our own control panel for web-hosting services. We're providing our services to customers from all over the world, and our infrastructure is reliable and effective, our support team is fast and qualified, our approach to customers and partners makes people to recommend us over and over again (https://tucha.cloud/en/reviews/). I'm proud to be a part of Tucha and delighted to cooperate with my amazingly talented colleagues.

  • Uplink
    Router
    Uplink Jul 2005 - Jan 2021
    Ukraine
In the middle of the 2005th, my partner (Kateryna Sukhobok) and I had found a new company to provide high-quality Internet services for corporate customers in Ukraine. We had a few years of experience in this industry, so we saw an excellent opportunity to choose customer's comfort as a core value of our company. Time has proved that it was quite a good idea: back in these times, it was pretty easy to compete with big and quite lazy Ukrainian ISPs, as they didn't take proper care of their customers. So, the companies who became our customers were satisfied by our services and appearance. Many of them were consuming our services for 10-15 years, they recommended us to other companies, and their recommendations were the best advertisements we could do.This project helped us to build a platform for another business. In 2011 we decided to become the first IaaS provider in Ukraine, so we worked hard, and in 2012 our platform was ready. This new project quickly became our primary vector of efforts, but we kept working as an ISP just to maintain relationships with our old and loyal customers. However, in 2020 we realized that we should get rid of the non-core assets, so we decided to sall the fibre network to another ISP and focus on our main business - Tucha. Thanks to all the people and companies who were our loyal customers for all these years.
  • Silvercom, Isp
Chief Engineer - Chief Technical Officer - Chief Executive Officer
    Silvercom, Isp Jul 2003 - Jul 2005
    Ukraine
I came to SilverCom as the chief engineer - that position implied my full responsibility for all technical aspects of company's network. The company were providing customers in Kyiv with a wide range of internet-connectivity services: from dial-up to xDSL and leased-lines. When I came to this company, the infrastructure was a total mess: all servers and network devices had been managed by another company and there was some serious conflict between the management of SilverCom and those guys, so guys didn't perform their dutiess well. I had to reorganize almost everything, there were a lot of work to do, but in a couple of months everything was working fine. Some time (about a year) passed by and founders of a company offered me to take up a post of a CEO. I never did CEO's job before, but sometimes we all have to learn something new, right? :) The company was unprofitable, but in a half of a year we came to the break-even point and in the next month we started to gain profit.I'm satisfied by results of my work for SilverCom and, of course, I'm grateful to founders of this company for giving me a chance to gain a lot of new experience and knowledge.
  • Interstrada, Isp
    System Administrator
    Interstrada, Isp Jan 2001 - Jul 2003
    Ukraine
Interstrada was quite a big ISP: there were about a dozen of sites connected to each other by fiber, copper and even radiowaves. Most of our customers were connected by wireless links (we used TurboCell by KarlNet as the technical solution). My responsibility was servers (Linux), routers and switches (Cisco, Avaya, and other pieces of networking hardware I couldn't remember and wouldn't like to).
  • Art-Service, Isp
    System Administrator
    Art-Service, Isp Apr 2000 - Jan 2001
    Ukraine
It was really exciting experience to move to other town (Irpin - it's a small town near Kyiv City) to build my very first ISP from scratch. There were several servers running FreeBSD and a bunch of modems connected to phone lines. We weren't the first ISP in this town (acutally we were the second), but our connection were fast and stable, our technical support was responsive and qualified, so we took a huge part of the market shortly after our opening.
  • Vernadsky Institute Of General And Inorganic Chemistry Of The Ukrainian National Academy Of Sciences
    System Administrator
Vernadsky Institute Of General And Inorganic Chemistry Of The Ukrainian National Academy Of Sciences Dec 1998 - Apr 2000
    Ukraine
It was my first job as a system administration. Basically, I maintained one Linux-server and a small local-area network (mostly coaxial ethernet) consisted of about 30-40 PCs. It was the place where I've learned what the hell is Linux and how it works.
  • Volz
    Technical Support Engineer
    Volz Jun 1998 - Aug 1998
    Ukraine
It was my very first job in ISP, that's where I was introduced to the Internet. I helped users to set up connection to the Internet and gained a lot of valuabled experience.
  • Kyiv Meat Processing Plant
    System Operator
Kyiv Meat Processing Plant Sep 1996 - Sep 1997
    Ukraine
It was my very first job ever. I did some maintenance works of really old and big boxes (they were called SM-1600, it was c Soviet clone of PDP-11 running a clone of RSX-11 as the operating system) and developed a simple database (I used FoxPro language - pretty nice implementation of xBase ideology) for plant's HR-department.So, yes, I'm such an oldfag. :-)
