I was a psychotherapist (Clinical Social Worker) from 5/81-5/17 , total of 36 years. During that time I worked for a state mental health clinic, then a private counseling group, and finally my own private practice. My experience included: admissions, assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and on-call duties. I was a member on an interdisciplinary treatment team. I provided individual, couple, group, and family treatment. My specialty areas were PTSD, couples’ counseling, and working with law enforcement.

I was an adjunct professor at Fordham University on the graduate level. I taught a practice class for the senior level Social Work students. I lectured for part of the class on a variety of topics related to Social Work practice. The other part of the class involved presentations from the students on cases from their internships. The class and I would critique their work. I also provided clinical supervision to both Social Work students as well as newly graduated Social Workers. This supervision facilitated the adjustment to Social Work practice including how to keep boundaries in place, learning how to recognize transference and countertransference issues, keeping a watchful eye on being a non-judgmental listener, and a variety of other importance issues dealing with working with clients.
