About Melodie Agnew

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Mélodie Agnew is a community development professional with over 19 years of nonprofit experience. She is an alumna of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she majored in Biology. Mélodie went on to hold positions in pharmacy network and provider management, training and implementation, and fundraising campaign management in Atlanta. After returning to Birmingham, Mélodie worked in program and volunteer management in the nonprofit sector before joining Norwood Resource Center, where she served as executive director for 11 years. She most recently served as Executive Director of Urban Ministry in Birmingham before moving to Jackson, Mississippi.During Mélodie's service at Norwood Resource Center, Norwood experienced a transition from a neighborhood perceived as crime-riddled and declining to one often referred to as vibrant and on the rise. As an example, Norwood was recognized by “This Old House” as one of the best “Old House Neighborhoods” in the country. Among the reasons listed for the selection, Norwood Resource Center programs were noted as important community assets.
