Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Active Transportation Alliance is a non-profit advocacy organization that works to improve conditions for bicycling, walking and transit in the Chicago metro region and engage people in healthy and active ways to get around. Our mission is to promote walking, biking, and public transportation for safe, healthy, and equitable communities.

LCBH believes that all persons have a right to safe, decent, and affordable housing on a non-discriminatory basis. We promote the availability of and access to such housing and support low and moderate-income households in Chicago through legal representation, individual and public advocacy, supportive social services and education.

The Better Government Association (BGA) is a Chicago-based, nonpartisan organization that has spent the past 85 years battling waste, fraud, inefficiency, nepotism, cronyism, patronage and corruption in city, county, suburban and state government. The BGA's long‐term goal is to restore FAITH in government, which means Fairness, Accountability, Integrity, Transparency and Honesty.Melody's work at the BGA involved managing the Court Watchers of the Better Governments Association. This 100-person-strong volunteer program placed trained individuals in criminal courtrooms across the Circuit Court of Cook County to monitor the administration of justice. Court Watchers volunteers - predominantly retired men and women - spent countless hours observing criminal court proceedings. These volunteers evaluated all taxpayer-supported aspects of courtroom activities, such as the actions of judges, prosecutors, public defenders, sheriff's deputies, and court clerks, as well as the overall administration of court proceedings. High-quality reports were submitted to the heads of each department on a monthly basis. Show less
