I have held 6 different positions at this facility: Ward Nurse duties: Caring for boarders, monitoring behaviors/health, medicating pets as needed, maintaining cleanliness, practicing safe capture & restraint, assisting technicians & doctors, record-keeping on paper & Avimark software. Also responsible for baths, nail trims, anal gland expressions, cleaning ears, & sanitary clips/trim fur on feet/ear plucking. Greeter responsibilities: Greeting clients with a smile, bringing them to exam rooms, weighing pets, assisting receptionists, relaying messages, maintaining cleanliness, & restocking the sales floor. Exam room check out position: This was established to decrease foot traffic in the lobby. In this position I am responsible for setting up/restocking the pharmacy/treatment areas, checking out clients in the exam room, scheduling appointments, cleaning, assisting Nurses, & filling prescriptions.Inventory/Replenishment Specialist: I am responsible for weekly/monthly inventory counts in certain departments. I am also responsible for ordering supplies that come from our local department stores, & ordering pet foods from Hill's Pet Nutrition. If there are mistakes in an order, or client returns, I am expected to contact Hill's directly & inform clinic supervisors of any changes. I am also given all invoices for 1 of 2 clinics to receive them into Avimark.Client Care Representative: I was trained as a receptionist for about 4 months, & did well, but it just wasn't my calling. Ward Department Lead: I am the primary trainer, I host Kennel meetings, communicate between other departments, perform basic maintenance or alert the maintenance team of more intense problems, keep ward manuals updated, complete staff assessments, assist in the hiring process, & strive to encourage morale.Pets we see: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Parrots/Macaws, Ferrets, Chinchillas, Rats, Geckos, Corn snakes/Boas, Bearded Dragons, Turtles, Skinks, Tegu, & Chameleons.

Prepare diets, distribute food, clean enclosures, observe behaviors, provide enrichment, ensure safety at all times, assist veterinary staff, administer medications as directed, fill out records, train animals using operant conditioning, and clean keeper facilities. Perform keeper talks, assist with zoo events, attend meetings, and participate in drills. Monitor egg lays, and the growth of young animals. Properly conduct animal introductions as needed, and monitor their interactions. Gained experience in basic pump system maintenance or cleaning, transfer/transport of animals, and zoo security and closing protocols.

Gained experience with exhibit design, basic construction, hand-rearing, capture and restraint, and public presentation.

Set up live invertebrates and preserved specimens for display, present them to zoo guests, and handle approved species. Prepared and distributed food, cleaned enclosures, and kept records. Managed 3 Emperor Scorpion mothers, and their young. Gained experience in organization, teamwork, and public presentation.

Weigh animals, clean enclosures, prepare diets, feed animals, assist with capture and restraint, observe behaviors, administer medications as directed, answer phones, admit new patients, clean facilities, and assist or train new volunteers and interns. Performed minor repairs and improvements of exhibits. Many orphaned young birds and mammals required low contact hand rearing.

Prepare ingredients, make milkshakes, keep station clean, restock utensils and condiments in lobby, clean restrooms, take out trash, sweep, and wash dishes.

Check meal tickets, serve food, restock food at the line, clean tables, sweep and mop kitchen, vacuum dining area, restock condiments, keep salad bar clean, engage with guests, clean trash cans as directed, and host special events.

Registering campers and providing information to parents and leaders, as well as supervising campers throughout the week. Games, Bible studies, and songs were organized for the campers. I also helped to lead jewelry, crafts, and nature time each week; presented the leopard gecko, hamster, and other camp pets to the girls.
