As an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow, you will join a statewide cohort of Promise Fellows supporting 6th-12th-grade students. You will train alongside other individuals that have answered the call to serve, providing direct support for up to 30 students during the school year. Promise Fellows support students in the areas of:• Attendance: Provide attendance coaching, call home if students miss class, and increase attendance by creating a caring adult relationship.• Engagement: Provide avenues for increased youth engagement in school and the broader community by coordinating programs like lunchtime mentoring, book clubs, promoting youth leadership development, and connecting youth with civic opportunities.• Course Performance: Help students set academic goals and provide before, in, and after school educational support for individuals and small groups as students work towards their goals.AmeriCorps Promise Fellows spend a school year helping a small group of Minnesota students in grades 6 to 12 get the education they need to start off strong in life. Much more than a tutor, AmeriCorps Promise Fellows use the proven Promise Fellow Model for youth support to provide one-on-one support for students who are struggling in school. As a Promise Fellow, you will foster your student's unique talents, honor their voices, and help them prepare for graduation and beyond.

An undergraduate internship through the Minnesota Capital Pathways program. This program focuses on centering BIPOC student voices in spaces of public policy and government.

I played the character of Quest Lee, a 20 year old Hmong-American filmmaker whose dream is to make it into NYU’s prestigious film school. Despite her 10+ year battle with Leukemia, Quest is enthusiastic, energetic, and hopeful as she pursues her dreams as a young, Hmong artist. Written by Katie Ka Vang and lyricist, Melissa Li, “Hmong memoirist and cancer survivor Mai See meets a young filmmaker named Quest, who is inspired to document Mai See’s story despite suffering from chronic cancer herself. When Mai See relapses, their unlikely friendship helps her understand the things in life that are worth keeping and the things worth letting go.”

"The project aims to strengthen capacity in economics at Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) through research on the impact of institutional setting on underrepresented racial/ethnic minority (URM) students and women in economics."- Recorded data from MN and WI colleges and institutes (recorded whether or not they offered an ECON department or course).- Used tools from Qualtrix to create surveys.- Edited, tested, and critiqued qualitative surveys to support the research project.

This fellowship was a 6 week, intensive musical theater training program. This training was specifically created for BIPOC artists. This forced us fellows to be open minded, focused, respond to feedback and collaborate and support others throughout learning the ins-and-outs of musical theater and becoming an artist. 10/60 applicants were accepted, and us 10 fellows walked through 6 weeks of training that included of Decolonizing Theater and the Artist, Finding Your Story, Acting the Song, Improv for Performance and Audition Thru Mediums, Movement Mastery (Musical Theater Dance), and The Artist Toolbox: Exploring Well-Being, Public Speaking and the Business Side of Performing Arts.

Worked 1:1 with Bonnsy Vue, Legislative Assistant for Rep. Jay Xiong (District 67B) and Laurie Pryor (District 48A).- Entered constituent information into the House's database.- Scheduled constituent and non-constituent meetings for Rep. Xiong and Pryor.- Listened to voicemails and recorded constituent concerns.- Responded to constituents' emails.

Informal internship with legislative assistant for Senator Foung, a member of the DFL Party for District 67 (Ramsey County; East St. Paul).
