My life took a sudden, unexpected turn 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with Long COVID. I have been forced to medically retire from a job that I loved, readjust a very active life to one of strict routine, and reevaluate my identity and value. It's one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Opportunities and experiences have been gifted to me that I never imagined happening, and my world has expanded immensely. I have worked in the higher education industry for 15 years, recently serving as Assistant to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, and Assessment Coordinator at Wallace Community College-Dothan (Alabama). In the time I operated the Office of Institutional Effectiveness became invaluable in the College's decision-making processes, as well as leading in the transformation and innovation of the state's 4-year and 2-year colleges' IE/IR offices. In all of my professional roles, I leverage my skills and knowledge in operations management, assessment, research, analysis, and strategic planning to facilitate improvement and excellence for the organization. I have greatly contributed to the improvement and innovation of the college's programs and services, by conducting research, analysis, and evaluation of data, best practices, and assessment.The world of work is changing and developing at exponential levels with new business models, new workforce perceptions and demands, fluidity of supply and demand, global influences. Each element of modern life requires, not only the flexibility to adjust, but the ability to see where and how these adjustments can be made to be successful in business and home life. This is where my expertise, experience, and understanding can be beneficial and constructive. I love to link arms with leaders and business owners to understand who they are, where they are, what they have, and where they want to go; and in that understanding create and generate a doable and measurable path to get there. What an exciting time to live and work!
